Old Mill, All Floors, With Emphasis on 5th Floor
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
The Physical Plant Training and Compliance Office has contracted Ventilation Technologies ATS (VentTec), to perform Old Mill duct cleaning activities associated with the 5th Floor air handling units (AHU’s) and associated ductwork, which will have a limited impact on other floors.
VentTec holds Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) and Certified Ventilation Inspectors (CVI) certifications through the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA).
DURATION OF WORK:
Start Date: Monday, July 7, 2014
Completion Date: Friday, August 15, 2014
Hours: 7:00am- 3:30pm, Monday – Friday
Specific Area Coordination: As the project progresses, TCO will coordinate with Old Mill Faculty and Staff a day or two in advance to accommodate schedules.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
During duct cleaning, airflow within the ductwork system will be restricted. The contractor will conduct cleaning and encapsulating activities using equipment that will create noise within the immediate area. The contractor will need full access to Offices, Classrooms, etc. in order to complete the cleaning operation. The University will notify occupants in advance of when the contractor needs access to their respective areas. Areas with dedicated air systems (i.e. Bathrooms ) will remain unaffected.
During Duct Cleaning activities, the contractor will access the vertical and horizontal ducts in areas of the Hallways and Rooms. The workers will wear personal and respiratory protection as a precaution. The work areas will be isolated with plastic sheeting, and demarcated with yellow barricade tape during the activity. Access into a work area will be limited. Please use non-work area Hallways for travel whenever possible.
Construction activities may create noise.
